Ever wonder how many bike trails there are in Virginia and where they are located? Soon, trail lovers will be able to access that via the Internet. Researchers and graduate students at Virginia Tech’s Center for Geospatial Information Technology (CGIT) are developing a statewide geographical information system (GIS) of bike and pedestrian trails.

The system, when complete, will  include Virginia’s existing and planned bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. Bike lanes and possibly hiking and horseback riding trails will be included.
